FDC - The "Green" Revolution

Updated: Aug 20, 2018

We all drink water because it is essential to our living. Our environment is having negative consequences with so many people purchasing water bottles, rather than drinking straight from the tap. Footworks is looking to transition to re-usable water bottles this season, as it is key to sustainable development. We hope other businesses and dance studios will join us in our mission to help our environment.

Saving our planet one dancer at a time.

First, bottled water is most likely not any healthier for you than tap water. Also, chemicals from the plastic can be leaked into the water over time. Next, the cost of bottled water is significantly marked up. Please also consider, bottles used to package water take over a 1000 years to bio-degrade. Significant barrels of oil are used every year to produce bottled water and it takes about 3 liters of water to produce 1 liter of water. Many water bottlers are also using groundwater that is leading to groundwater shortages in some areas.

Footworks would like to spread a culture to our dancers, and beyond, to eliminate the use of plastic water bottles. Even though many water bottles are purchased each year in this country, very few are actually recycles (less than half).

Footworks is providing a refillable water station this season and we also have a bubbler on site, and we are doing away with one-time use water bottles this year. We challenge you and ask you to join us in our FDC “green” revolution this year and do your small part to save our planet.

Ru-usable glasses and water bottles are the way to sustainable development
